DIY: PROTEIN TREATMENT

Hello beautiful people, hope everyone is well and good. Today’s post is going to be about protein treatment. Let me school y'all abit, science inclined people get in here , please don't get bored.

So basically, the hair is made up of 91% protein (long chain amino acids) and due to all the chemicals, exposure to pollution and lack of proper hair care,it leads to breakage of the long chain of amino acids causing dull, weak and damaged hair. Now that the chains are broken
😒 we need to fix it,here comes the protein treatment. This treatment helps to reconstruct and strengthen the hair strands, also boosting the hair with tons of nutrients.
There are lots of brands that provide protein treatment kits such as Aphogee 2 step protein treatment, Organic root stimulator hair mayonnaise, Aphogee keratin 2 minute reconstructor and a lot more. But we the DIY (Do It Yourself) nation, with the help of google and bitter-sweet experiences have found a suitable and affordable protein treatment combination which consists of;
-             Egg
-           Olive oil
-           Honey
-           Castor oil

  Steps

Begin this after you detangle your hair and its wet
-In a clean bowl, break one egg or two (depending on thickness and length of your hair) and beat properly
-Add one spoon of honey and beat the mixture some more
-Add one spoon of olive oil and two drops of castor oil and mix properly.Make sure the mixture is thick and not so watery to prevent it from dripping down your neck.
-Apply the mixture to your hair carefully, from root to tip. Focusing more on the hair strands. Remember to do this in sections and cover with a shower cap for about 20 minutes.
Please note, that this can be a very messy process, you might hate it the first time but when you try it again you’ll get the hang of it. And I discovered that getting this mixture onto the hair is quite difficult so transferring it into an applicator bottle makes it easier and less messy. I use two shower caps to avoid dripping.

-When you take out the shower cap, go about your normal wash day routine or check out mine here. And that’s about it.

A protein treatment should be done atleast once a month or twice a month for really damaged hair. I carry out mine once a month when I take out my protective style. And egg is really the best source of protein for the hair because the yolk is rich in fat and protein while the white is full of bacteria eating enzymes which cleanses the hair and scalp.
Like we all know ,in this life, too much of everything is not good so applying the protein treatment too often can lead to protein overload causing breakage throughout the hair. So brothers and sisters, apply with moderation.

P.S-you don’t need to have everything, having 2 or 3 out of all 4 is fine. You could even add something else that suits your hair type. Some add lemon cause of the smell from the egg, some others have allergies to honey so they skip that. So just find what works for you and what is easily available.

Remember, consistency is key and you have to follow this up to see long term results.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you try this out and share your thoughts. Don't forget to subscribe and share. Remember to uplift each other queens
